Experience

A knowledge of general computer applications.

 

Preferred Experience

Working with younger children.

 

Minimal Education

High School Diploma or GED

 

Responsibilities

  • Check books in and out.

  • Maintain circulation records.

  • Answer the telephone.

  • Sign up new patrons.

  • Answer reference questions.

  • Contact patrons for the return of overdue materials.

  • Notify patrons when reserved materials become available for pickup.

  • Shelving.

  • Reader’s Advisory.

  • Provide new material recommendations to supervisors.

  • Assist patrons in use of the computer catalog.

  • Assist patrons in completing interlibrary loan requests.

  • Assist patrons with the access of downloadable materials.

  • Assist patrons with technical services.

  • Assist staff with library events and programs.

  • Assist staff with marketing and outreach.

  • Conduct baby/toddler playgroups.

  • Perform general housekeeping duties such as cleaning and straightening.

  • Opening and closing the library, if needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Librarian (Part-Time)

 

Want an entrance into the gratifying world of librarianship? This may be the experience for you!

 

Summary

The Librarian receives and checks-out library materials, shelves, and assists patrons in with matters relating to the circulation or use of library materials and computers. He or she works with all collections in the library (children, teen, and adults) and will spend most time stationed at either the upstairs or downstairs (children’s) desks. He or she assists the staff with library events and programs along with marketing and outreach. In addition, he or she conducts baby/toddler playgroups.

 

Schedule

Part-time. Thursdays 1:00 to 6:00; Fridays 10:00 to 4:00; Saturdays 9:00 to 2:00.
